GKL Reports Strong May Revenue Growth in Korea
Grand Korea Leisure (GKL), the South Korean casino operator serving foreign visitors, reported a strong rise in revenue for May, supported mainly by higher table game activity. According to figures submitted to the Korea Exchange, total casino sales reached KRW43.13 billion (approximately $28 million), representing a 40.8% increase year-on-year and a 7.3% improvement compared with April.
Table games remained the company’s main source of revenue during the month. Income from this segment climbed to KRW38.84 billion ($25.2 million), rising sharply from KRW27.11 billion ($17.6 million) recorded in May 2025. Compared with April 2026, table game revenue also improved by nearly 5%.
Machine games also delivered positive results during the month. Revenue from gaming machines totaled KRW4.29 billion ($2.8 million), compared with KRW3.53 billion ($2.3 million) in the same month last year. On a monthly basis, machine game sales increased significantly from KRW3.16 billion ($2.1 million) in April, marking growth of 35.5%.
For the first five months of 2026, GKL generated cumulative casino sales of KRW189.97 billion ($123.4 million). This represented an 8.5% increase compared with KRW175.06 billion ($113.7 million) during the corresponding period in 2025.
Table games continued to dominate the company’s revenue mix over the January-to-May period. Cumulative table game revenue reached KRW172.15 billion ($111.8 million), reflecting year-on-year growth of 7.7%.
Machine games also posted steady gains across the first five months of the year. Revenue from the segment rose 17% to KRW17.83 billion ($11.6 million), compared with KRW15.24 billion ($9.9 million) during the same period last year.
The latest figures underline continued momentum for GKL in 2026, with both table and machine games contributing to improved monthly and year-to-date performance. Table games remained the company’s largest revenue driver by a considerable margin.
May’s results further extended the positive trend seen throughout the opening months of the year. Sales improved both on a monthly and annual basis, with strong table game activity continuing to support the company’s overall casino performance.
The Korea Exchange filing also showed that GKL maintained growth across its core operations in May, while cumulative revenue for the year remained ahead of the comparable period in 2025.
