Bee Macau Begins Casino Card Production in Macau
Bee Macau has officially started full-scale production at its casino-grade playing card manufacturing facility, introducing local production capacity to a Macau gaming market that has traditionally relied on imported cards.
The operation is a joint venture between Belgium-based Cartamundi Group and Hong Kong-listed gaming supplier Asia Pioneer Entertainment Holdings Ltd (APE). Supported by an investment of approximately HK$500 million ($64.1 million), the facility has already completed test production and delivered initial exports to gaming operators across Asia before moving into full commercial manufacturing.
The launch gives Macau a domestic source for casino-grade playing cards on a larger scale for the first time. According to APE Executive Director and CEO Herman Ng, the project provides operators with an additional supply option and strengthens diversity within the gaming supply chain. He added that the partnership combines Cartamundi’s global expertise with local market knowledge.
The new factory is expected to help reduce Macau’s dependence on imported playing cards, which have historically dominated supply across the region’s casino industry. The facility is positioned as both a manufacturing center and a strategic addition to the broader gaming supply network.
Cartamundi stated that the Macau operation combines more than two centuries of card manufacturing experience with regional expertise. The Bee brand itself dates back to 1892 and became part of Cartamundi’s portfolio in 2019, allowing Bee Macau to continue using the established brand while expanding its local presence.
The plant operates using automated systems, artificial intelligence technology, and robotics while employing a local workforce. Cartamundi Asia Pacific Managing Director Jason Pearce said the facility was designed to strengthen supply chain stability and reduce risks connected to imported gaming products in Macau.
Before entering full-scale production, the factory carried out test manufacturing and exported products to gaming operators in other Asian jurisdictions. Those early shipments demonstrated the facility’s ability to support both local and international demand.
Bee Macau’s production focuses on casino-grade playing cards under the Bee label. The company said the facility will support Macau’s gaming ecosystem while also serving overseas clients as production ramps up.
Bee Macau is also preparing to showcase its products at G2E Asia, taking place from May 12 to 14 at The Venetian Macao. The company plans to present its “Made in Macau” casino-grade playing cards alongside its BEE TEK smart shoe technology at booth A922.
