Bhayandar West Gambling Den Raided, 18 Arrested

A covert gambling operation in Bhayandar West was uncovered late at night, with local police apprehending 18 individuals and confiscating cash and mobile devices connected to betting activities. The Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar (MBVV) Police conducted the raid as part of their ongoing efforts to clamp down on illegal gambling in Mumbai’s peripheral areas.

Cash and Devices Seized
The authorities recovered approximately ₹5 lakh (around $5,960) in cash along with 16 mobile phones believed to be used for placing bets. All 18 people present at the premises were taken into custody. The raid followed intelligence reports indicating that illicit betting was taking place at the location.

Ringleader Remains At Large
While the arrests represent a significant disruption to the operation, the primary organiser of the gambling network managed to evade capture. Police suspect that the den was part of a larger illegal betting syndicate in the region. The case has been registered under the Common Gaming Houses Act, and investigators are now tracing financial transactions to identify further connections.

Authorities noted that illegal gambling often surges during festival periods, highlighting the need for increased vigilance. The MBVV Police have indicated that additional raids may be conducted in the coming weeks as part of continued enforcement efforts.
