Caixa Commits BRL40m to Brazilian Olympic Body
Caixa Econômica Federal has committed to contributing BRL 40 million annually to the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) through the country’s new Olympic Sponsorship Program (POP).
Alongside Grupo Tigre, whose investment amount has not been disclosed publicly, Caixa becomes one of the first partners supporting the initiative. According to reports from Valor Econômico, the POP model allows participating sponsors to allocate up to 20% of their contribution directly to sports confederations linked to the program.
The structure introduces a new funding model for Brazilian Olympic sports, giving federations additional financial support while offering sponsors broader visibility opportunities.
New Sponsorship Structure For Confederations
The COB’s projected budget for 2026 is expected to total BRL 679 million. Around BRL 475 million, or roughly 70% of that amount, is expected to come from lottery-related funding, while approximately BRL 115 million will originate from tax revenues tied to the betting sector.
COB president Marco Antônio La Porta said the updated sponsorship structure creates expanded commercial possibilities for both the committee and affiliated sports federations.
“As never before in history, the COB transfers private resources to the confederations” La Porta said in comments to Valor Econômico.
He added that sponsors connected to the program will also be able to activate partnerships across competitions organized by 26 eligible confederations.
The model reflects the increasing relationship between Brazil’s gaming-related revenues and sports financing as the country’s regulated betting and lottery industries continue to expand.
Caixa Lottery Revenues Continue Growing
According to Caixa’s quarterly report released on 15 May, lottery operations generated BRL 5.97 billion in revenue during the first quarter of 2026.
That figure represented an 8.4% increase compared with the same period in 2025, although revenue declined 30.7% from the previous quarter.
Mega-Sena and Lotofácil remained the company’s largest lottery products, together accounting for 74.8% of total lottery revenue. Mega-Sena alone represented 39.8% of lottery income and recorded annual growth of 30.3%.
Caixa also reported that more than BRL 12 billion from lottery revenue was directed toward public initiatives in both 2024 and 2025.
Betting Market Adds To Public Funding
Brazil’s regulated online betting market has also become an increasingly important source of public revenue.
During 2025, the sector generated around BRL 37 billion in gross gaming revenue, with approximately BRL 4.5 billion in taxes directed toward destinations established under Brazilian law.
Regis Dudena stated that 2025 demonstrated the growing role of state oversight in the betting market, supported by improved monitoring systems and compliance tracking tools.
The continued growth of Brazil’s lottery and betting industries is expected to strengthen funding for sports, social initiatives and other public programs across the country.
