Macau Gaming Services Exports Rise 5.5% in 2026
Macau’s gaming industry contributed to economic growth during the first half of 2026, with exports of gaming services increasing 5.5% from a year earlier.
The rise came alongside stronger visitor numbers, supporting the recovery of tourism-related activity across the city.
Data from Macau’s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) showed that visitor arrivals increased 9.0% year-on-year during the first six months of 2026. Total service exports grew 7.3%, with gaming services among the areas contributing to the increase.
Gaming Services Add to Export Growth
Gaming services exports rose 5.5% during the first half of the year, reflecting increased activity associated with Macau’s casino sector.
Other tourism services performed more strongly, recording growth of 10.8%, while total service exports advanced 7.3%.
The figures place gaming within Macau’s wider tourism-driven services economy. Both gaming and other tourism services recorded annual growth as visitor arrivals increased during the period.
Macau’s adjusted GDP reached MOP209.9 billion, equivalent to US$26.0 billion, during the first half. Real GDP growth was 3.7% year-on-year, with the economy recovering to 89.1% of the level recorded during the same period in 2019.
While the GDP figure reflects the broader economy, DSEC data identified gaming services as one of the contributors to the increase in service exports.
Visitor Arrivals Rise Alongside Gaming Activity
Macau recorded a 9.0% year-on-year increase in visitor arrivals during the first six months of 2026. The higher number of visitors coincided with increases in gaming services exports and other tourism-related services.
However, the available data does not provide a separate casino gross gaming revenue figure or details on the performance of individual gaming operators. Instead, gaming services are measured as part of Macau’s total service exports.
The figures also do not indicate that all visitors contributed equally to gaming activity. They show only that gaming services exports increased compared with the previous year while visitor arrivals and other tourism services also recorded growth.
Second-Quarter Growth Moderates
Macau’s revised GDP for the second quarter stood at MOP102.4 billion, or US$12.7 billion. Real GDP increased 0.3% year-on-year, leaving the economy at 87.9% of its level in the second quarter of 2019.
The quarterly growth rate was below the 3.7% recorded for the first half as a whole. However, the six-month service export data confirmed that gaming services continued to grow during the period covered by the GDP figures.
DSEC did not provide a separate second-quarter growth rate for gaming services exports. The reported 5.5% increase refers specifically to the first half of 2026.
Gaming Remains Part of Economic Recovery
The latest first-half figures show continued year-on-year growth in Macau’s gaming-related service exports. Gaming services increased 5.5%, while other tourism services rose 10.8% as visitor arrivals climbed 9.0%.
Gaming therefore remained part of the broader expansion in Macau’s service exports during the period. At the same time, the city’s economy continued to recover in real terms, although adjusted GDP remained below its comparable 2019 level.
The first-half data provides an indication of continued growth in tourism-linked gaming activity as Macau monitors its economic performance through the remainder of 2026.
