Macau Hits 10M Visitors Faster in 2026
Macau surpassed 10 million inbound visitors in 2026, reaching the milestone 12 days earlier than it did in 2025. The figures, released by the Public Security Police Force on March 21, indicate a continued acceleration in visitor arrivals. In 2025, the city recorded a total of 40.06 million visitors, exceeding its previous 2019 high of 39.4 million.
So far this year, Macau has averaged approximately 126,000 daily arrivals, marking a 14% increase compared to the same period last year. The data reflects sustained momentum in tourism activity, supported by the city’s established appeal across gaming, retail and leisure segments.
Mainland China remains the dominant source market, accounting for around 75% of total visitors. Hong Kong follows with 15%, while Taiwan contributes 2.5% and international markets make up approximately 6.6%. While the overall distribution remains stable, the increase in volume highlights stronger inflows from these regions.
Entry point statistics further underline the trend. The Border Gate accounts for more than 44% of total arrivals, followed by the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge checkpoint at close to 20%, and Hengqin at around 16%. These figures emphasise the importance of land-based crossings in facilitating travel into Macau.
Reaching the 10 million mark by mid-March reflects the continuation of last year’s growth trajectory. The steady daily average of 126,000 visitors, alongside the 14% year-on-year increase, suggests that Macau’s recovery and expansion in tourism demand remains on track.
The latest figures reinforce Macau’s position as a key tourism destination in the region. With strong reliance on mainland China and consistent contributions from neighbouring markets, combined with accessible transport links, the city is maintaining its growth momentum into 2026.
