Macau VIP Baccarat Revenue Falls in Q2 2026
Macau’s VIP baccarat sector generated MOP15.90 billion (US$1.97 billion) in gross gaming revenue during the second quarter of 2026, representing a 2.6% decline compared to the same period last year. The latest figures also show that the VIP segment accounted for a smaller proportion of the market, while several mass-market categories recorded growth.
VIP Baccarat Share Falls
According to data released on Thursday by Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, VIP baccarat represented 26.1% of total gross gaming revenue from games of fortune during the April-to-June period. This was down from 26.7% in the corresponding quarter of 2025.
Overall casino revenue remained relatively stable during the quarter. Total gross gaming revenue reached MOP61.03 billion for the three months ending June 30, reflecting a marginal year-on-year decline of 0.1%.
Although VIP baccarat continued to be one of Macau’s largest gaming segments, its contribution to the overall market eased compared with the previous year.
Mass-Market Gaming Continues to Grow
Revenue from the mass-market segment, including slot machines, totalled just under MOP45.13 billion during the second quarter, marking a 0.8% increase from the same period in 2025.
Mass-market baccarat remained the largest contributor to casino revenue, accounting for 57.6% of total gross gaming revenue generated from games of fortune between April and June.
Slot machine performance also improved significantly. Gross gaming revenue from slots climbed 17.0% year-on-year to MOP4.11 billion, increasing the segment’s market share to 6.7%, compared with 5.6% in the second quarter of last year.
Electronic Gaming Products Also Advance
The live multi-game electronic gaming category also delivered positive results during the quarter. Revenue from this segment rose 3.1% year-on-year to more than MOP1.30 billion.
Growth across slot machines, electronic gaming products and the wider mass-market segment helped offset the decline recorded in VIP baccarat, resulting in an overall stable quarterly performance for Macau’s casino industry.
Balanced Performance Across the Market
The latest quarterly figures illustrate the continued shift in Macau’s gaming landscape. While VIP baccarat remains a major revenue source, its share of total gaming revenue declined compared with a year earlier.
Meanwhile, stronger performances from mass-market baccarat, slot machines and electronic gaming products supported overall market stability, leaving total gross gaming revenue broadly unchanged despite softer VIP results.
