Soft2Bet Targets Alberta iGaming Market Entry
Soft2Bet has announced plans to enter the Alberta iGaming market, subject to regulatory approval, as part of its broader North American expansion strategy.
The company intends to build on its experience in Canada through its Ontario-facing brand ToonieBet, using its expertise in localised offerings to support a potential launch in the province.
Focus on Market Opportunity and Regulation
Alberta is widely viewed as a key growth opportunity within the North American iGaming sector, supported by strong economic indicators and a favourable demographic profile. Industry projections have suggested that a fully regulated market in the province could generate more than $700 million in annual revenue once mature.
Soft2Bet is monitoring regulatory developments linked to the iGaming Alberta Act, which outlines the framework for a competitive market. Under the proposed structure, the Alberta iGaming Corporation will oversee operations, working alongside the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis regulator.
As part of its preparations, the company is aligning its systems with the technical and compliance requirements expected within the province.
Expansion Strategy and Localisation
The potential move into Alberta supports Soft2Bet’s wider plans for 2026, which include entering new regulated markets and driving long-term growth through expansion.
David Yatom Hay, General Counsel at Soft2Bet, said the company is focused on delivering innovative products tailored to local audiences. He noted that, pending approval, the company aims to provide experiences that reflect the preferences and culture of players in Alberta.
Soft2Bet also plans to apply its localisation strategy, developed in Ontario, to the Alberta market. This approach includes adapting products to meet regional regulatory standards and player expectations, as well as providing native-language support to ensure its offerings are aligned with local markets.
