Ukraine Fines BetKing Operator Over Compliance Delays

Ukraine’s gambling regulator has imposed a fine of more than ₴432,000 (around $10,000) on SLOTS U.A. LLC, the operator behind BetKing Casino, for failing to submit requested information within the required timeframe.

In a statement shared on its Telegram channel, PlayCity said that gambling operators are required to provide complete and timely information as part of maintaining transparency in the regulated gambling market.

BetKing, formerly operating under the Slotoking name, holds a sportsbook license issued in Kyiv in late 2024. The company also manages the 777 brand through Slots UA. According to the regulator, the penalty was issued because of delays in responding to official requests, underlining the importance of compliance obligations within Ukraine’s gambling sector.

New Reporting Tool Targets Illegal Gambling Ads

The fine comes shortly after PlayCity introduced a new digital platform designed to simplify the process of reporting illegal gambling advertisements. The online tool allows users to report ads appearing across social media, websites, television, radio and outdoor advertising channels.

Users can upload links, screenshots and videos directly through the platform, while submitted materials are automatically stored in the system. Complainants also receive email notifications as investigations progress. PlayCity said the platform was designed to preserve disappearing content, such as social media stories, by instantly downloading reported material for review.

The regulator confirmed that the platform has already produced results. According to PlayCity, a Twitch account promoting illegal gambling activity was removed after users reported the channel through the new system. Following a review, the findings were forwarded to Twitch, which blocked the account within days.

PlayCity said it continues to cooperate with major digital platforms, including Meta, YouTube, Google and Viber, to strengthen enforcement against illegal gambling advertising.

Ukraine Expands Focus on Gambling Harm Prevention

Alongside enforcement measures, Ukraine has also launched public consultations on a national strategy aimed at reducing gambling addiction and minimizing gambling-related harm.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation announced a draft state policy strategy that would run until 2035. The proposal focuses on preventing addiction, reducing the social and economic effects of excessive gambling and supporting individuals and families affected by gambling-related problems.

The draft also includes an action plan covering the period from 2027 to 2029, intended to coordinate efforts between government institutions and other stakeholders involved in gambling regulation and public protection.

Authorities said the strategy is intended to improve transparency across the industry while lowering medical, social and financial risks connected to gambling activity. Public feedback on the proposal will remain open until May 18, 2026.
