Wildz First Operator Licensed for Finland’s Gambling Market

Wildz Group has become the first online gambling operator to secure a licence for Finland’s upcoming regulated market, marking an important step towards its planned launch in July 2027.

The authorisation was granted by Finland’s National Police Board (NPB) for a five-year period beginning on 1 July 2027.

Wildz CEO Sam Brown welcomed the decision, highlighting the work involved in completing the application process.

“Receiving the amazing news of being the first operator to receive a licence in Finland is a welcome reward for all the efforts of the team in the application process,” Brown said.

He also described the approval as a significant development for the group and its future in the country.

“We’re excited about this milestone and what it represents for the future of Wildz Group. We believe that our brands will offer players in Finland a safe and engaging entertainment product for many years to come. We’re looking forward to July 2027,” Brown added.

Finland’s preparations for the new licensing framework have attracted considerable interest from operators. Reports published last month indicated that nearly 75 licence applications had been approved, up from 50 in June.

Among the international companies pursuing opportunities in the market are Betsson and LeoVegas, which is controlled by MGM Resorts. Hippos ATG Oy, a joint venture between Swedish and Finnish trotting associations, is also among the applicants.

Meanwhile, Finnish authorities have continued to take action against companies accused of advertising gambling services illegally. The regulator has imposed a $1.2 million fine on MagicPoro over alleged violations, although the company has challenged the penalty.

The incoming market is also expected to introduce several player protection measures. These include a ban on autoplay, responsible gambling reminders every 15 minutes and limits stating that players must not spend more than €20 on slots, with the threshold reduced to €10 for those under 25.

Wildz Group’s licence marks an early milestone as Finland moves towards the opening of its regulated online gambling market in July 2027.
