Betfred Reports £64m Pre-Tax Profit for 2025/26

Betfred recorded £64 million in pre-tax profit for the financial year ending 29 March 2026, with its retail operations generating more than half of the company’s total sales.

Company filings submitted to Companies House cover a 52-week accounting period, compared with the 78-week period reported previously. The difference in reporting periods means that direct year-on-year comparisons are not possible.

The company disclosed £7.1 million in exceptional charges, including £4.6 million associated with unsuccessful acquisition attempts. These expenses also reflected issues arising from Betfred’s withdrawal from the US market.

Retail turnover reached £544 million, exceeding the £451.7 million generated through online operations during the reporting period.

After accounting for betting tax, machine gaming tax and other operating expenses, Betfred reported gross profit of £720 million.

Its disclosed tax and commission costs comprised £147.4 million in betting tax, £54.5 million in gaming tax on machines, £18.6 million in gambling duty and £55.1 million in commission expenses.

Operating profit stood at £74.1 million, while pre-tax profit reached £64 million. The company recorded £39.6 million in profit from its activities after accounting for £24.4 million in tax.

Total comprehensive income amounted to £48.7 million, including a positive foreign exchange difference of £9.5 million.

The reported results precede the introduction of higher UK betting taxes, which took effect in April 2026.
