Brazil Launches Match-Fixing Education Platform
An educational initiative aimed at combating match-fixing was introduced at BiS SiGMA South America 2026, with backing from Esportes Gaming Brasil, the group behind the Esportes da Sorte brand.
Positioned as part of a broader effort to strengthen integrity through prevention and education, the project has now expanded to a national level. It supports a new platform developed by Brazil’s Ministry of Sport in collaboration with the National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL), designed to help athletes recognize and prevent manipulation in sports betting.
The platform, created by Sportradar, delivers online training accessible to clubs and athletes throughout the country. Prior to its national rollout, similar sessions had already been conducted at teams sponsored by Esportes da Sorte, including Corinthians, Ceará, Náutico and Ferroviária, marking an evolution from a brand-led initiative into a wider public programme.
The official launch took place on April 7 during the opening of BiS SiGMA South America in São Paulo, where CEO Darwin Filho highlighted the importance of education in safeguarding sports integrity.
He stated: “We see prevention as the most effective approach to addressing match-fixing and preserving fair competition. By expanding access to knowledge, this platform helps athletes better understand risks and respond appropriately. Our aim is to support a more transparent and secure sporting environment.”
Targeting athletes across multiple disciplines connected to betting markets, the programme focuses on promoting fair play and transparency. According to official materials, it is expected to become available from May.
ANJL president Plínio Lemos Jorge emphasized that integrity remains central to responsible gambling within regulated frameworks.
“Match-fixing runs counter to the interests of licensed operators. These companies, many of which are publicly listed and operate internationally, depend on transparency and fairness. Collaboration with the Ministry of Sport is another step toward reinforcing these principles,” he said.
The platform is structured into several modules, addressing topics such as the scope of match-fixing, its consequences and prevention strategies, aligned with practices from established regulated markets.
Felippe Marchetti, Sportradar’s LATAM Integrity Director, added: “This initiative plays a key role in raising awareness among athletes and protecting those most exposed to risks. It also supports authorities by improving understanding of integrity reports and strengthening enforcement actions.”
