Buenos Aires Extends Boldt Casino Licence to 2026
The Provincial Institute of Lotteries and Casinos of Buenos Aires (IPLyC) has approved an extension to the operating licence of Boldt S.A., allowing the company to continue managing casinos in Tandil and several other gaming venues across the province until December 2026.
The decision was formalised through Resolution 262, published in the Official Gazette, which confirms the validity of the operating period starting from December 31, 2025, when the previous extension expired.
Under the new measure, Boldt will remain responsible for running these gaming venues until the provincial authorities complete a new tender process to determine the future operators.
Background of the Casino Tender Process
The current arrangement dates back to March 2019, when then-governor María Eugenia Vidal introduced a new policy concerning casinos in the province. At that time, the government declared Tender 1/18 unsuccessful for several gaming venues, including the casinos in Tandil, Miramar and Annex III of Mar del Plata located at the Hotel Hermitage.
Authorities concluded that the proposal submitted during the tender did not adequately serve the fiscal interests of the province.
Two months later, in May 2019, the lottery authority signed a new agreement with Boldt to ensure the continued operation of these casinos. The arrangement also aimed to support improvements and reopening efforts at certain venues, particularly the casino at the Hotel Hermitage in Mar del Plata.
As part of the agreement, Boldt committed to investing in upgrades required to resume operations at the casinos in Tandil, Miramar and Mar del Plata.
Since that time, the provincial authority has granted several extensions to the company’s operating licence while preparing new tender processes for these gaming establishments.
Scope of the Latest Extension
The latest resolution, signed by IPLyC president Gustavo Atanasof, validates the period that elapsed between the expiration of the previous extension and the issuance of the new administrative decision.
In addition to the casino in Tandil, the extension permits Boldt to continue operating gaming facilities in Miramar, Annex III of Mar del Plata (Hotel Hermitage), Mar de Ajó, Annex I of Mar del Plata (Hotel Sasso) and Sierra de la Ventana.
The authorisation will remain in place until December 31, 2026, or until a new agreement with suppliers selected through the ongoing bidding process becomes effective.
Current Tender Process in the Province
The licence extension coincides with the province’s ongoing tender for electronic gaming machines, casino renovations and other operational services.
In October 2025, IPLyC released preliminary results from the bidding process. Boldt received the highest score, achieving 79 points for its proposals concerning the casinos at Hotel Hermitage, Miramar and Tandil.
Its nearest competitor, Casino de Victoria S.A., obtained 43.5 points for its proposal linked to the Hermitage property.
While the tender has not yet been finalised, the extension ensures that gaming operations will continue uninterrupted at several major casinos across the province.
