DigiPlus Calls for Listed Status for Gaming Operators

DigiPlus Interactive Corp chairman Eusebio Tanco has urged Philippine regulators to consider making public listing a requirement for all licensed online gaming operators in the country. According to Tanco, the move could create a fairer competitive environment while also helping direct players away from illegal gambling platforms and toward regulated operators.

Speaking during DigiPlus’ annual stockholders meeting on Friday, Tanco pointed to the higher standards that publicly listed companies are required to follow in areas such as transparency, taxation, and corporate governance compared to privately held businesses.

He noted that DigiPlus, as a listed company, operates under strict disclosure requirements, complies with governance standards and pays taxes accordingly. Tanco argued that applying similar obligations across the licensed online gaming sector would help establish equal conditions for all operators in the market.

DigiPlus currently operates several gaming brands in the Philippines, including BingoPlus, ArenaPlus and GameZone. The company also manages casino slot arcades through another business unit.

Tanco said introducing listing requirements for licensed operators would improve accountability and transparency across the industry while ensuring that all companies are subject to comparable regulatory oversight.

He also linked the proposal to ongoing efforts to reduce the influence of illegal gambling operators in the Philippines. According to Tanco, regulators should focus on encouraging players to migrate from unlicensed platforms to legal and regulated alternatives.

The proposal adds to wider discussions surrounding the regulation and structure of the Philippine online gaming industry. Tanco suggested that listed-company requirements could help strengthen compliance standards while making it easier for both regulators and consumers to distinguish between licensed and illegal operators.

With DigiPlus active across multiple gaming segments, the company’s position highlights its belief that stricter governance and disclosure rules should apply more broadly throughout the licensed gaming market.
