Georgia Promotes Five-Year International iGaming Licence
Georgia is positioning its new five-year International iGaming Licence as an opportunity for international operators, with the first businesses preparing to launch under the newly introduced framework.
The Gambling Regulation Agency Georgia, the government-appointed gambling regulator, confirmed that the licensing scheme is currently being implemented following a three-month trial period.
The framework is designed specifically for companies targeting customers outside Georgia. Operators licensed under the scheme will not be permitted to offer their services to Georgian citizens.
Under the commercial proposal, successful applicants receive a five-year licence, along with access to Georgia’s commercial banking system and the ability to process gambling-related payment transactions under the MCC 7995 code.
Georgia International Strategic Group (GISG) began promoting the opportunity in September. Its proposal states that operators will pay 5% tax on gross gaming revenue, alongside a 1% governmental monitoring fee. Together, these are presented as a total 6% tax, in addition to an annual fee.
The proposal further states that reinvested profits are not subject to corporate tax.
Another feature of the scheme is that applicants can obtain the licence from their existing offices and are not required to maintain a physical office in Georgia.
The future development of the framework will depend on how companies make use of the scheme.
GISG has also indicated that additional changes to the terms available to operators could be introduced in October 2026.
