Grand Korea Leisure Reports Strong April Casino Sales
Grand Korea Leisure Co Ltd posted higher casino sales in April, supported by stronger performances at its Gangnam and Busan properties. The foreigner-only casino operator reported monthly casino sales of nearly KRW40.19 billion (US$27.7 million), according to a filing submitted to the Korea Exchange on Wednesday.
The April result represented an 11.1% increase compared to the same month last year and a 25.7% rise from March. Table game sales continued to drive growth, climbing 12.7% year-on-year and 30.2% month-on-month to KRW37.02 billion. In contrast, gaming machine revenue declined, falling 4.6% from April 2025 and 10.6% compared to March to KRW3.16 billion.
Grand Korea Leisure operates three foreigner-exclusive Seven Luck Casino venues in South Korea. Two are located in Seoul, while the third operates in the coastal city of Busan. The company is a subsidiary of the Korea Tourism Organization, which is affiliated with South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Gangnam Property Drives Growth
Among the group’s venues, the Gangnam casino in Seoul generated the strongest performance in April. The property recorded sales of almost KRW23.88 billion, increasing 58.8% from March and nearly 40% year-on-year.
The Busan Lotte venue also delivered positive growth, with monthly sales reaching KRW6.23 billion. This represented a 28.9% increase from the previous month and a 12.3% rise compared to April last year.
Meanwhile, the Seoul Dragon City casino reported weaker results. Sales at the property declined 6.8% month-on-month to around KRW10.08 billion and were down 25.6% compared to the same period in 2025. Despite the softer performance at Dragon City, gains at Gangnam and Busan helped lift overall group results.
Year-To-Date Performance
Following the April increase, Grand Korea Leisure’s cumulative casino sales for the first four months of 2026 reached KRW146.84 billion. That total was 1.7% higher than the same period last year.
Casino drop, which measures the amount exchanged for gaming chips by players, also improved during the month. Group-wide casino drop rose to nearly KRW346.67 billion in April, up 20.5% year-on-year and 1.9% higher than March. For the January-to-April period, total casino drop climbed to KRW1.28 trillion, reflecting a 14.6% increase from the corresponding period in 2025.
Mixed Venue Performance
April’s figures highlighted a mixed performance across the operator’s portfolio. Gangnam and Busan both recorded strong annual and monthly gains, while Seoul Dragon City continued to face pressure. Even so, overall growth in table games and casino drop helped the company deliver a stronger month.
The latest results suggest Grand Korea Leisure’s performance remains heavily supported by its key Seoul and Busan operations as it continues through 2026.
