Lotep Day Focuses on Governance and Responsible Gaming
The State Lottery of Paraíba (Lotep) hosted industry operators, specialists and stakeholders during the “Lotep Day Governance, Technology and Responsible Gaming” event held on March 11 in João Pessoa.
The meeting aimed to strengthen regulatory practices and discuss technological oversight and responsible gaming strategies within Paraíba’s regulated betting environment.
Closer Cooperation Between Regulator and Industry
Opening the event, Lotep Superintendent Petrônio Rolim stressed the importance of maintaining an active relationship between regulators and operators as the betting market continues to evolve.
He noted that the growing scale of the betting sector requires greater institutional responsibility, technological oversight and clear regulation. According to Rolim, the purpose of Lotep Day was to expand technical dialogue with operators while reinforcing a regulatory model built on legal certainty, effective supervision and consumer protection.
The initiative is part of Lotep’s broader strategy to maintain engagement with licensed operators and refine the regulatory framework governing betting activities in the state.
Responsible Gaming and Governance in Focus
Morning sessions centred on governance and responsible gaming, highlighting their importance in building a sustainable betting sector.
Graziele Batista, president of Lotep’s Responsible Gaming Commission, outlined the current safeguards in place and emphasised the shared responsibility between regulators and operators in preventing harmful gambling behaviour and protecting players.
Legal specialist Fernanda Queiroz also delivered a presentation titled “Betting Marketing in Paraíba: Obligations, Risks and Best Practices.” Her discussion focused on legal requirements surrounding advertising and communication within the betting sector, referencing the regulatory guidelines set by Lotep Ordinance No. 36/2025 and State Law No. 15.325/2026.
Participants were given the opportunity to ask questions and exchange views before the afternoon sessions began.
Technology and Regulatory Oversight
Later discussions focused on regulatory modernization and technological monitoring tools used to oversee betting platforms.
Abraão Araújo, Lotep’s Technical and Inspection Manager, presented updates on new regulatory guidelines currently under development by the agency. He highlighted the need for regulators to adapt quickly as the betting sector continues to evolve.
Christhiny Sanson, Digital Modernization Manager at Lotep, explained the technological infrastructure used to support betting platforms and regulatory monitoring.
The technical program concluded with a presentation from HostDime Brasil, an institutional partner of the event, which discussed infrastructure solutions used in gaming platform operations.
Working Groups to Continue Industry Discussions
The gathering served as a platform for discussions on regulatory, operational and technological aspects of the betting sector, helping strengthen communication between the regulator and licensed operators.
Following the event, Lotep and industry representatives agreed to establish working groups aimed at continuing discussions on regulatory implementation and operational challenges.
According to Rolim, maintaining an open communication channel with operators will help regulators track technological developments and continuously refine the regulatory environment in the state.
