Casino Guru Academy Launches Self-Exclusion Course
Casino Guru Academy has introduced Advanced Insights: Self-Exclusion Best Practice, a new educational course created with contributions from BetBlocker International. The programme is designed to help iGaming operators strengthen their self-exclusion processes by offering practical guidance based on industry expertise.
Self-exclusion remains one of the key responsible gambling measures required in many regulated jurisdictions. However, differences in regulations and operator practices across markets can lead to inconsistent player protection and operational challenges.
Practical Guidance For Operators
The new course aims to help operators review, improve, or establish self-exclusion procedures through a structured framework. It also includes a 30-day implementation plan to assist businesses in applying the recommended practices within their operations.
Its content is based on the Recommended Code of Practice for Online Self-Exclusion, released in 2025. The framework was developed by Dr. Margaret Carran alongside Casino Guru and a group of ten iGaming professionals.
According to Šimon Vincze, Head of Safer and Sustainable Gaming at Casino Guru, the objective is to provide practical recommendations that operators can adapt to their own regulatory environments rather than replace local requirements with a universal standard.
Promoting A Broader Responsible Gambling Approach
The course highlights that self-exclusion is most effective when used alongside other responsible gambling measures. It encourages operators to integrate additional support options such as gambling-blocking software, treatment services, helplines and other player protection resources.
BetBlocker International contributed directly to sections explaining how blocking software can complement self-exclusion by helping vulnerable players limit access to gambling across multiple operators.
Pedro Romero, CEO of BetBlocker International, said the programme demonstrates how operators can strengthen player protection by combining self-exclusion with accessible support services and free blocking tools that assist individuals seeking to reduce or stop gambling.
Industry Education Initiative
The launch forms part of Casino Guru Academy’s wider effort to provide free educational resources for professionals working in the iGaming sector.
The course is now available through the Casino Guru Academy website and will also be showcased during iGB L!VE London 2026, where the organisation plans to present the programme to the global gaming industry.
