Google Updates YouTube Online Gambling Ad Rules
Google announced changes to its YouTube advertising policies for online gambling on October 7, confirming that eligible advertisers will be able to promote gambling products through the platform’s Masthead placement from October 21.
Access to the advertising format will be available to advertisers certified under the applicable Gambling Regulations.
However, the update does not extend permission to gambling advertising representatives who are not required to register with state or federal gambling regulators. The change builds on YouTube’s existing policies governing sports betting advertisements.
All online gambling ads must continue to comply with relevant gambling regulations, applicable laws, regional requirements and age restrictions.
Companies that do not operate gambling games themselves but promote them, including affiliate businesses, will remain ineligible to advertise through the Masthead under the specified conditions.
The restriction applies in jurisdictions where these promotional companies are not required to register with a gambling regulator. Other provisions of Google’s gambling advertising policy, including jurisdiction-specific rules and age limits, remain unchanged.
