Konami Gaming Returns to Profit in Q1 2026

Konami Group Corp’s gaming and systems business returned to profitability during the first quarter of its financial year after reporting strong revenue growth. The recovery came as the company also achieved record first-quarter group results, largely supported by its digital entertainment business.

Gaming and Systems Revenue Climbs

For the quarter ending 30 June, Konami’s gaming and systems division generated JPY12.39 billion (approximately $75.8 million) in revenue, marking a 64.9% increase from JPY7.51 billion recorded in the same period a year earlier.

The segment posted a business profit of JPY827 million, compared with a loss of JPY166 million in the first quarter of 2025.

Konami’s gaming and systems division develops casino slot machines and casino management systems, operating internationally through Konami Australia Pty Ltd and Konami Gaming Inc. in the United States.

At the group level, Konami reported record first-quarter revenue and profit across all business segments, with digital entertainment remaining the company's strongest contributor.

Product Demand Supports Growth

According to Konami, new casino developments and replacement demand from existing gaming venues created additional opportunities for its casino products, despite continued competition from other manufacturers.

The company highlighted its Solstice 49C cabinet from the Solstice series as receiving positive market feedback. It also noted that its Bomberman-themed slot titles continued to perform above average on casino floors across North America.

In Australia, the Bull Rush Stampede series also delivered encouraging results, while the company reported broader adoption of its Synkros casino management system across land-based casinos and cruise ships operated by Carnival Corp.

Japan Licensing Progress Continues

Konami also provided an update on its expansion plans in Japan, confirming that Konami Gaming became the first gaming equipment manufacturer to submit licence applications to the Japan Casino Regulatory Commission.

The regulator oversees Japan’s future casino industry, with MGM Osaka expected to become the country's first integrated resort casino when it opens in 2030.

Konami said its experience operating in regulated gaming markets worldwide positions the company well to supply casino products and services once Japan's casino industry becomes operational.

The company already maintains a strong presence in Japan through its pachinko, digital entertainment and sports businesses, providing an established foundation for future casino equipment operations.

Record Group Performance

Across the entire business, Konami reported consolidated revenue of JPY129.52 billion for the first quarter, representing 33.6% year-on-year growth. Consolidated profit increased 64.2% to JPY32.57 billion.

While digital entertainment remained the group's largest earnings driver, the latest results demonstrate that Konami's gaming and systems division has returned to growth, supported by stronger demand for casino hardware, broader deployment of Synkros and continued progress toward entering Japan's regulated casino market.
